"MISE EN PLACE" is a short film that explores the nonlinear journey of grief through the eyes of Ezra, a professional chef coping with loss. Each room in his house symbolizes a stage in Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’s five stages of grief; denial, anger, depression, bargaining, and acceptance, revealing his emotional unraveling. The film’s central object, a wheelchair, becomes a powerful metaphor for unresolved sorrow that is too large to set aside. Through visual storytelling and subtle metaphors, it captures how grief distorts time, space, and identity. Ultimately, Mise En Place reflects on our human tendency to seek comfort even in pain, portraying the fragility of letting go.
